Our story
We are an innovative organisation with a proud history. Meals on Wheels SA was founded in 1954 by Doris Taylor MBE. Since then, we have delivered over 50 million meals to South Australians.

What we believe
We believe that a meal should be a magic moment in everyone’s day — a small celebration of some of the good things our world has to offer. A real meal; something to look forward to and revel in, not solely for fuel or necessary nutrition.
We believe in food that’s fabulous, enticing, and exciting, with fresh and flavoursome dishes garnered from all corners of the world — imaginative and interesting dishes that look alluring and exceed anticipation, brought to your home.

Our purpose: Meals on Wheels SA provides support to members of the community to live independently.
Our support enhances lifestyles through:
- The delivery of fabulously fresh, seasonal dishes packed full of flavour that is both nutritious and delicious to maintain health and wellbeing;

WHERE WE WORK
Fresh, fabulous, flavoursome food made right here
We have 84 branches across the state that include Fresh Cook kitchens, Cook Chill kitchens and country branches.
In our Fresh Cook kitchens, exciting meals are cooked from scratch every morning and delivered on the same day.
In the Cook Chill branches, delicious and nutritious meals are delivered to the branch chilled or frozen after being made at our commercial kitchen in Adelaide. Branch volunteers then heat the meals up and deliver them hot to customers.
Finally, we have our country branches. Even here, fresh and fabulous meals are delivered to customers hot and ready to eat, after being made in the local township to Meals on Wheels SA guidelines.
